These bio balls used in all AquaPro wet/dry filters provide an ideal surface for the growth of denitrifying bacteria. Bio balls never need replacing and should only be clean when extremely dirty. Cleaning should be proformed by removing small amounts at a time and rinsing in aquarium discard water.
